Pune: The 88th edition of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, the prestigious all-India Marathi literary meet, will host writers from other languages as well.
The meet organised at Ghuman in Punjab will have the active participation of Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi authors, said
Madhavi Vaidya, president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal, the apex Marathi literary body which organizes the annual literary meet.
The sammelan will be held between April 3 and 5, said Vaidya at a recent news conference to announce the programmes.
“We aim to bridge the gap between writers and poets from different backgrounds and generations. The festival in Ghuman will give a common platform to various languages. The meet will be conducted outside Maharashtra, to promote literary interactions among authors and poets from different cultures and languages,” she said.
Jnanapeeth award-wining writers from Punjab and Kashmir will interact with Marathi literature lovers during the meet. The topics for discussions include ‘The writings which impressed me’ ‘Modern technology and future of printed literature’.
Along with a poets’ meet, the festival will have a special ‘moot court’ session dedicated to script writing. This brainstorming session will discuss different aspects, lacunae and strengths of current day visual media writing.
The organisers expect around 5,000 people to attend the three-day meet. Travel facilities have been arranged for those who wish to attend the literary meet.Two trains have been booked, which will depart from Nashik and Mumbai during the early hours of April 1. Arrangements for the return journey have been made on April 5.
