Man dies after fall from 24th floor balcony in Punawale

Pune: A 25-year-old man died after falling from the balcony of his friend's flat on the 24th floor of a building in a housing complex in Punawale in the early hours of Thursday.The man, who was from Chinchwad, was staying with his friends in the housing complex. A case of accidental death was registered at the Ravet police station.Senior police inspector Nitin Phatangare of Ravet police said they got the information around 2am and when a team reached the spot, he had been taken to a private hospital at Somatane Phata, where he was pronounced dead."The victim's friends told us that they had been out for dinner on Wednesday. After they returned home, he jumped from the balcony," Phatangare said, adding they are investigating the case from all angles.The police officer further said the victim's friends said that he had told his parents he was working with an IT company in Hyderabad."Two days ago, he met his parents and told them that he would be going to Chennai on a transfer. The victim was, however, doing a marketing job for his friend's poultry in Maval taluka. We are investigating why he took the extreme step," Phatangare said.
