Women from the Mahadarwaja hamlet of Metghar village in Trimbakeshwar taluka walk every day for three hours to reach a well and scrape a potful of water from the bottom of the only source of water. - Photos by TOI's Satish Kale

The water level of the well have dipped as temperature in Nashik has started rising.

The women are compelled to risk their lives by climbing down the steep walls of the well to fetch water from the near-dry well there.

The well is the only source of water for the 300-odd residents of the hamlet.

The rising temperature has already triggered water scarcity in at least one village in Trimbakeshwar taluka in Nashik district and two villages in Nandurbar district.
