Pune: The two- and three-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto has reported a decline in the sales of two-wheelers in both its Indian and overseas markets, the latter being a more significant decline, while its domestic commercial vehicles business continued to recover and improve year-on-year.
Bajaj Auto shipped 1,25,525 two-wheelers domestically in December, a 2% decline over the same for December 2021. Its exports over the same period declined by around 36%, to 1,21,499 two-wheelers.
Earlier in the year, the company cited the base effect and a strong dollar as the reason for the underperformance in some export markets, particularly African territories.
The company also reported a decline in its commercial vehicle exports for December 2022, by around 55% annually, to 11,432 units. In contrast, the same for its Indian market continued to recover from pandemic blues, improving by around 25% to 23,030 units.
