Youth dies, another hurt in Bhojpur road accident
A devastating accident unfolded on the Ara-Chhapra highway, leaving 22-year-old Sanju Kumar dead and his friend Vikash Kumar in critical condition after being struck by a speeding truck. The local community reacted with fierce anger, staging protests that resulted in damaged vehicles as they demanded accountability.
Ara: A 22-year-old youth, Sanju Kumar, was crushed to death by a speeding truck while his 28-year-old friend Vikash Kumar was seriously injured in an accident on the Ara-Chhapra four-lane road near Jamalpur bazaar under Koilwar police station in Bhojpur district on Saturday afternoon.Angered by the mishap and the alleged rash driving of truck drivers, locals staged a protest and damaged the windowpanes of the truck involved in the accident as well as some other trucks. Police later intervened and dispersed the crowd after assuring the protesters that necessary action would be taken.“The truck involved in the accident has been seized. Though the driver managed to escape after the accident, investigation is underway to identify and nab him,” Koilwar SHO Narottam Chandra told mediapersons.The deceased was a resident of Akhgaon village under Sandesh police station in Bhojpur district, while the injured Vikash Kumar, a resident of Nagraon village under Awatar Nagar police station in Saran district, was referred to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) after initial treatment at Koilwar primary health centre, police said.
