Woman climbs mobile tower, rescued
Bettiah: A woman climbed a mobile tower near Laxmipur village under the Chautarwa police station area in West Champaran district on Sunday, triggering panic among locals and prompting a rescue operation.
Police identified the woman as Priyanka Kumari, a native of Uttar Pradesh. She had entered into a love marriage with a resident of Chautarwa and the couple has a child. Following a marital dispute, her husband had left the area for work.
Upset over the situation, Priyanka came to her in-laws’ village and climbed the mobile tower. After receiving information, police rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals, spent nearly an hour counselling her to come down.
After prolonged persuasion, she descended safely and the situation was brought under control without any injury.
Bagaha SDPO Nihar Bhushan said, “The woman had come from Uttar Pradesh to meet her husband in Chautarwa. The man is currently away from home for work. When she could not meet him, she climbed the mobile tower. Upon receiving information, the police immediately reached the spot, counselled her and safely brought her down.”
