Two cousin sisters found dead near brick kiln in Muzaffarpur
Patna: The bodies of two minor cousin sisters, who had been missing for the past two days, were found near Maksudpur brick kiln at Minapur village under Rampurhari police station area of Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday morning, police said. The bodies had started decomposing, indicating that the girls were allegedly murdered soon after they went missing.
The deceased were identified as Mausam Kumari (12), daughter of Rajesh Rai, and her cousin Ruchi Kumari (7), daughter of Veer Chandra Kumar.
According to family members, the girls had been playing outside their house amid wedding-related activities in the village. On Monday, they had again gone to attend a puja ceremony but did not return home by evening, prompting a search by family members. When they could not be traced, the family informed the police. Their bodies were recovered two days later from a deserted area near the brick kiln, raising suspicion of foul play.
Mausam’s mother, Ritu Devi, said the family had no enmity with anyone. She alleged that the girls were killed and dumped at the spot, adding that injury marks, including broken teeth, were visible on the body.
Police officials said both victims bore multiple injury marks on their heads, stomachs and other parts of the body. The bodies have been sent for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
DSP (East)-1 Alay Vats said an FIR has been registered against unknown persons on the basis of a complaint lodged by the family. “We are probing all possible angles, including personal enmity, as well as the possibility of sexual assault or other motives. Investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to identify and arrest those involved,” he said.
