Patna: The Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) at Danapur cantonment observed the Raising Day of its 8th and 12th Battalions on Thursday with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The ceremony was held at the BRC ground where officers, soldiers and personnel of the regiment gathered to commemorate the rich legacy and sacrifices of the two battalions.
The 8th Bihar Battalion was raised on January 1, 1965 under the command of Major Balbir Singh while the 12th Battalion came into existence on January 1, 1976 under the leadership of Lt Colonel Kulwant Singh Mann. Since their inception, both battalions have played a crucial role during war and peace time, safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation, said BRC commandant Brig Rakesh Kumar Bohra.
During the ceremony, homage was paid to the brave jawans of both battalions who laid down their lives in the line of duty and displayed exemplary courage and devotion to the nation. Brig Rakesh Kumar Bohra lauded the services, courage and valour of the soldiers and officers of the battalions. He offered wreaths at the war memorial in honour of the fallen heroes.
Several senior army officials and personnel participated in the event, recalling the glorious history and achievements of the battalions. The Raising Day celebration reaffirmed the regiment’s commitment to upholding the highest traditions of the
Indian Army and serving the nation with dedication and honour, a BRC official said.
