Sudha milk prices hiked by Rs2 per litre in Bihar & Jharkhand
Patna: Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation (Comfed) has increased the prices of all Sudha milk variants by Rs 2 per litre in Bihar and Jharkhand. The revised rates will come into effect from May 22.
With the revision, Sudha Gold (full cream) milk will now cost Rs 67 per litre, up from Rs 65. Sudha Shakti milk has been revised to Rs 59 per litre from Rs 57, while cow milk will now cost Rs 56 per litre instead of Rs 54. Prices of toned and double-toned milk have also been increased by a similar margin.
However, prices of other Sudha products such as ghee, peda and lassi remain unchanged for the time being.
Comfed officials said the price revision has been necessitated due to rising production and operational costs. They cited a sharp increase in cattle feed prices and transportation expenses, which have significantly pushed up input costs. Officials added that the dairy sector has been facing sustained cost escalation over the past few years, leading to periodic revisions in retail prices.
This is the third price revision by Sudha in the last two years. Earlier, on May 21, 2025, the cooperative had increased milk prices by up to Rs 2 per litre in Bihar. On June 4, 2024, too, all variants saw a similar hike.
At the national level, Amul increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across its range from May 1, while Mother Dairy has also recently implemented a similar revision.
Sudha milk is operated by Comfed, established in 1983 as Bihar’s cooperative dairy initiative aimed at ensuring fair prices for farmers and curbing exploitation by middlemen.
The latest hike is expected to impact lakhs of households across Bihar and Jharkhand that rely on Sudha milk for daily consumption.
However, prices of other Sudha products such as ghee, peda and lassi remain unchanged for the time being.
