Khagaria: Police have arrested 14 miscreants and lodged a named FIR against 82 others for vandalism and unlawful entry into the collectorate’s meeting hall on Thursday, during a protest over the alleged rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in a village on Tuesday night. The mob stormed the collectorate office and disrupted its functioning.
Khagaria SP Rakesh Kumar said eight police personnel have been suspended for dereliction of duty and failure to control the situation, while four SHOs of various police stations have been served show-cause notices seeking explanations. He said all the miscreants were identified through CCTV footage and social media video reels.

“Some of the troublemakers, who even clicked selfies while sitting on the official chair in the collectorate’s meeting hall, have been booked under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984, by the police administration. A special investigation team (SIT) headed by Sadar SDPO Mukul Ranjan has been constituted for further investigation,” the SP added.
