Patna: Posters projecting
Nishant Kumar as the “next CM of Bihar” appeared across Patna on Sunday, coinciding with the BJP initiating the process to appoint its legislative party leader by naming Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as central observer. Nishant, who entered active politics only last month, is the son of CM Nitish Kumar.
The posters, put up at several locations, including near the CM residence, JD(U) office, BJP office and areas close to the RJD office, also carried slogans seen as indirect criticism of the “bulldozer model” and “riots-unrest”, apparently targeting allies. One of the slogans read, “Bihar mein na toh bulldozer bawal, aur nahin phir se danga-fasad chahiye (We do not want a bulldozer, nor riots-unrest in Bihar).”
The development comes amid heightened political activity in Patna, where discussions over the next CM have intensified. The posters, particularly those outside the CM’s residence, have added a public dimension to the ongoing leadership debate within the ruling alliance. Several posters demanded that Nishant be given the reins of the state, claiming he would complete the “unfinished” mission of Kumar.
A social media post by JD(U) chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also drew attention. It featured Nishant’s photograph with the slogan, “Na ho adhir, Nishant ke haath mein hai teer, siyasat me khichenge nai lakir (Don’t be impatient. Nishant holds arrows in his hands and will draw a new line in politics).”
