Posters across city pitch Chirag as Bihar CM
Patna: LJP(RV) supporters have demanded the CM’s chair for their leader and Union minister Chirag Paswan as CM Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha and is set to relinquish his post soon.
Posters, put up outside the BJP office and elsewhere in Patna on Monday, demanded that Chirag be made the CM. It states, “No riots, no disturbances, only Chirag should be the CM of Bihar. Crown him, only then will Bihar’s golden age arrive.”
LJP(RV) Bihar in charge and Jamui MP Arun Bharti had recently expressed his “personal desire to see Chirag as the head of the state govt”. However, he also said the decision on the next CM will be taken by the NDA leadership and will be accepted by all its partners.
BJP leader and industries minister Dilip Jaiswal said workers want to see their party leader on top but such decisions are taken by the NDA leadership.
Political analysts believe that these posters are an attempt to showcase Chirag as a young and powerful leader of the Paswan/dalit community in Bihar.
However, commenting on the posters, LJP(RV) minister in the Nitish cabinet, Sanjay Paswan, told reporters that the workers have their own sentiments and the party respects them. He also said Nitish is currently the CM of Bihar and any decision on his successor will be made at the NDA meeting.
When asked if he wanted to see Chirag as the CM, Sanjay said whatever decision is taken at the NDA meeting will be accepted by all.
The posters also claimed that it was time for Bihar to have a young CM. “Chirag is the Hanuman of PM Modi and has received his blessings” and “Chirag will be the new leader of Bihar” have been written in the posters, grabbing widespread public attention.
