Police destroy Maoist training camp in Munger

Munger SP Varun Kumar Sinha on Wednesday said about 250 Naxalites were being imparted training at village Kandani in Munger district to sabotage the Lok Sabha polls in Munger, Lakhisarai and Jamui districts.

MUNGER: Munger SP Varun Kumar Sinha on Wednesday said about 250 Naxalites were being imparted training at village Kandani in Munger district to sabotage the Lok Sabha polls in Munger, Lakhisarai and Jamui districts.
On getting information, a police team comprising 60 jawans of CRPF aand STF was dispatched to locate the training camp of the Maoists on Tuesday.

The team was led by additionl SP (operation) Naveen Kumar.
As the police team was approaching the site, several hundred Maoists took shelter at village Larayatand under Dharhaha police station while a guard in militiray uniform started firing on the CRPF jawans. The police also retaliated with heavy firing and sent message to the headquarters to dispatch additional force. The other members of the training camp also fired at the police force. Since the Maoists were not retreating, the police used mortars to counter their firing forcing them to flee the place leaving behind huge quantities of materials meant for the training camp.
After police used mortars against the Maoists, Lalita Devi who was leading the Naxalite attack in police uniform firing from Insas, she fell down and the Insas rifle was thrown away which provided golden opportunity to the police team to march forward and captute her alongwith eight more members of Maoists. Lalita Devi is the commander of female brigade of Maoists. Police also nabbed Babloo Tuddu, Manoj Soren, Arvind Tuddu, Pairu Soren, Birendra Tuddu, Bimal Tuddu and Sukur Kol.
After demolishing the Maoist training camp, the police seized 506 rounds of live cartridges, gelatins, transistors, allopathic medicines, cosmetics, liquid solutions, inner garments of women in huge quantities, more than one hundred police uniforms, Maoist literature incluing one very secret book titled 'Essential Notes' containing processes of manufacturing explosives and food plaza, cotton bags, sticker of police offices, voters identity cards were also seized from the place. CRPF deputy commandant PK Lal, assistant commandent CRPF Amit Kumar, Aman Kumar, DSP, STF, joined the operation against the Maoists when reinforcement arrived and the training camp of the Maoists was surrounded from four corners, Munger SP Varun Kumar Sinha said.
