Gaya: CM Nitish Kumar campaigned for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates Manorama Devi and Deepa Kumari for the Belaganj and Imamganj assembly bypoll respectively, on Sunday, even as policewomen and Jeevika didis created ruckus with their respective demands. The bypolls are scheduled on Wednesday.
During his campaign in Belaganj in support of Janata Dal (United) candidate Manorama Devi, policewomen created uproar alleging that their application with several demands did not reach the CM. In Imamganj, workers of Jeevika — an initiative of the govt for poverty alleviation — raised their demand for increasing remuneration during a public meeting on Jamuna Taand ground in favour of Deepa Kumari of Hindustani Awaam Morcha-Secular.
The CM, who enumerated the development works done by the NDA govt in every sector since 2005 at both the meetings, assured the policewomen and Jeevika didis of considering their demands.
He said, "We have done work for all sections of society, especially women, who have been made self-reliant by providing reservation in govt jobs and panchayati raj system. Already employment to 24 lakh people has been ensured, while at least 10 lakh more will be given jobs."
Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan also campaigned for the NDA candidates.
