In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bhagalpur police have successfully dismantled a notorious cartel, confiscating over 7.5kg of brown sugar along with a stash of narcotic pills. The operation led to the arrest of nine suspects, including one woman, during well-planned raids at four different sites.
Bhagalpur: In a crackdown on a drug peddling syndicate, Bhagalpur police recovered over 7.5kg of brown sugar (ganja), along with intoxicating tablets, cellphones, chillums and weighing machines during raids at four locations on Sunday.Nine peddlers, including a woman, were arrested, the SSP said, adding that cross-examination of the accused is underway. Those arrested include Kanchan Kumari, Aman Raj, Abhishek Kumar, Ramdev Mandal and Rahul Kumar.The action was part of an intensified drive against narcotics and organised drug networks in the district, the SSP said.The SSP said examination of the accused and their cellphones has revealed “several startling details”. Police teams, along with a special investigation team, FSL and cyber police, will analyse saved contacts, including those of some suspected white-collar persons.Police said the accused also disclosed the source of the seized consignment and its intended recipients.
