Nalanda Sainik School cadets excel at state-level camp
Sainik School, Nalanda cadets excelled at the state-level Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, with Anurag Kumar securing first place. Two cadets will now compete nationally. Elsewhere, students spread Holi cheer at an old age home, while Vanijya Mahavidyalay celebrated its annual sports meet, honouring top athletes.
Patna: Cadet Anurag Kumar (Class X) of Sainik School, Nalanda, secured first position at the state-level Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) camp held at NIT-Patna and received Rs5,000, a certificate of excellence, and a memento for his outstanding performance.Cadet Abhinav Raj (Class VII) secured second position and received Rs3,000, a certificate of merit, and a memento. Cadet Arav Sen (Class VII) secured third position and received Rs2,000, a certificate of merit, and a memento.

Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a national programme organised by Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) in collaboration with NCERT and NCSM. It aims to popularise science among students from Classes VI to XI and identify young minds with scientific aptitude.The awards were presented by Pradip K Jain, director, NIT-Patna. Cadet Anurag and Cadet Abhinav were also selected to participate in the National Level Science Camp scheduled for May 16-17, 2026, at IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat.Col Bhupender Kumar, principal of Sainik School, Nalanda, conveyed his best wishes to the achievers and their parents.Holi celebrationStudents of Jesus and Mary Academy in Patna City brought alive the spirit of colours to the elderly residents of an old age home in Maharani Colony, Agamkuan, Patna, through a pre-Holi celebration.
The event, organised with the support of the Home’s head, Deepak Sen and Krishna Kumar, saw the young students playing Holi with flowers instead of traditional colours. They put ‘abir’ on the feet of the elders and received their blessings in return.Deputy director Abhishek Patrick, principal Pooja N Sharma, and teachers Geetanjali Verma and Mukesh Kumar Ojha were present on this occasion.Annual sports meet at Vanijya MahavidyalayAnanya Anand and Prince Raj were declared the Vanijya Mahavidyalay champions in the girls’ and boys’ events respectively in the annual sports event.More than 120 boys and girls of the college participated in different events of sports and athletics. BJP MLA Sanjay Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion and he gave away trophies and prizes to the winners. Vanijya Mahavidyalay’s principal Suheli Mehta highlighted the all-round achievements of the college in recent times. Patna College principal Anil Kumar and Patna University officials were also present on the occasion.
