Murder accused shot at by police in Jehanabad
Patna: A murder accused was shot in the leg during an exchange of gunfire with police near Dhuriyari village under Ghosi police station area of Jehanabad district late Thursday night. The injured accused, Bikku Singh alias Ravan, 20, was admitted to the sadar hospital under police custody.
The encounter took place during a police operation to recover weapons allegedly used in the murder of Deepak Kumar on May 18. According to police, Bikku opened fire on the team after leading them to the spot where the weapon was hidden.
Jehanabad SP Aprajit Lohan said, “Bikku is the main accused in the murder of Deepak in Chatar village. Police arrested Bikku on Thursday. During interrogation for weapon recovery, Bikku told police he had hidden arms near a canal in Dhuriyari. When police took him to the spot, he pulled out a weapon and opened fire. A bullet hit the Ghosi police vehicle, but no personnel were injured. In retaliatory firing, Bikku was shot in the right leg. He was first taken to Ghosi Primary Health Centre and later referred to sadar hospital.”
Investigators found that Deepak and Bikku were allegedly involved together in petty criminal activities, and Bikku’s name surfaced during the probe, leading to his arrest.
