Man arrested on charge of raping girlfriend in Muzaffarpur
Patna: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her boyfriend at a hotel in Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday night. Acting on her distress call, police rescued her and arrested the accused from the spot.
Given the seriousness of the case, police sealed the hotel room the same night to prevent tampering with evidence. On Thursday, a police team, along with forensic experts, revisited the hotel with the victim for identification. Several key pieces of scientific evidence were collected from the room, police said.
The victim told police that she had been in a relationship with his boyfriend for over two years. She alleged that he had been sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marriage. “He called me to meet and booked a room, registering me as his wife in the hotel records,” she said.
She further alleged that he assaulted her inside the room and harassed her when she resisted. “Sensing danger, I somehow informed the police,” she added.
Police said they raided the hotel, broke open the room door, and rescued the woman.
Officials also warned the hotel management to strictly follow verification norms, stating that failure to check proper identity or provide details of occupants amounts to negligence. The administration reiterated that maintaining complete records of guests is mandatory.
Town SDPO Vineet Singh said, “We received a call from the victim reporting wrongdoing in a hotel room. Acting promptly, the team rescued her safely and arrested the accused. The victim has undergone medical examination, and forensic evidence has been collected. Further investigation is underway.”
