Patna: After criticising the RJD for its poor showing in the recent
Bihar assembly elections, the BJP on Sunday launched pointed attacks on party chief Lalu Prasad, accusing him of "treating sons above daughters and paying scant regard to them."
In a social media post, BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar highlighted the contributions of Lalu's daughters during his medical procedures, contrasting them with his son's privileged position in matters of power and property. "When Lalu Prasad Ji had a kidney operation, his daughter Rohini Acharya donated her kidney, and when he had his eye surgery, another daughter, Misa Bharti, got it done! But when it comes to claims over property or party, only Tejashwi comes to Lalu's mind," Neeraj Kumar alleged.

The remarks followed Lalu's successful cataract and retinal surgery in New Delhi. Doctors said the combined procedure was carried out without complications using advanced ophthalmic technology and internationally recognised surgical standards. Lalu had previously undergone a successful kidney transplant in Singapore in December 2022, with his daughter Acharya as the donor. She later contested unsuccessfully in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from her parents' home seat of Saran.
Reacting sharply to the BJP's comments, the RJD accused the party of invading personal privacy. "The BJP is raising this issue since it wants to divert people's attention from the real issues," said state RJD chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav on Sunday. He added that the BJP's remarks amounted to "violating the right to privacy."
