Ara: Burglars broke into a house in Milki Mohalla under Town police station in Ara in the early hours of Thursday and decamped with gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs 25 lakh.
The landlady, Mahjabeen Mumtaz, said, “As my husband has gone out of town, I used to stay at my parental home in Khetari Mohalla during the night. When I returned in the morning, I found the lock broken and gold and silver jewellery, along with other items including our LED TV, missing. CCTV footage shows two thieves running away with the stolen items at 3.10 am on Thursday.
“About 10 tolas of gold jewellery and over 1 kg of silver kept in the almirah were stolen. Besides this, my husband’s jewellery kept downstairs, some cash and the LED TV are also missing,” she said.
The station house officer said, “The FSL team has collected samples. CCTV footage is being examined to identify the culprits.” Patrolling has been intensified.
