JD(U) writes to DGP alleging Tejashwi travelling abroad with criminals
Patna: JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar on Monday sent a letter to the director general of police (DGP) of Bihar, Vinay Kumar, alleging that leader of opposition in the state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is travelling abroad with notorious criminal Ramiz Nemat.
He requested the DGP to keep a close watch on Tejashwi’s foreign trip, citing concerns that he might also be accompanied by Devendra Gupta, a notorious criminal from Motihari, who is absconding and carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head.
RJD hit back to the allegations, stating that Tejashwi still has popular public support.
Neeraj in his letter alleged, “Ramiz has a history criminal background with 11 FIRs filed against him. After spending considerable time in jail, he was released on bail one year ago. Some of his relatives are still lodged in different jails of Uttar Pradesh. Gupta, on the other hand, is listed among the top 100 wanted criminals by the police and has 28 cases registered against him, including murder, extortion, and land grabbing.”
The JD (U) spokesperson further said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is already investigating the money laundering case against Tejashwi. He acquired court permission to go abroad, but the wanted criminals like Ramiz and Gupta might also have accompanied him, leading to some criminal conspiracy.
“I have requested the DGP through a letter sent by email that the movement of Tejashwi should be closely monitored after he returns,” Neeraj added.
Ramiz hails from Balrampur district in Uttar Pradesh. He has a political background and has been involved in election management and digital strategy. His uncle is a former MP of Uttar Pradesh, while his wife contested Uttar Pradesh assembly polls twice. Despite his family’s respectable positions—his father is a professor at Jamia Millia Islamia and his mother is a teacher in Jamia School—Ramiz has faced multiple criminal cases. His family lives in Delhi, police sources said.
They added that Gupta is a notorious criminal from Motihari with 28 cases registered against him. He is currently absconding, and his wife, Preeti Kumari, is the mayor of Motihari Municipal Corporation.
Responding to Neeraj’s allegations, RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said, “The statements of NDA leaders, including the JD(U) chief spokesperson, automatically prove that Tejashwi still has public support. Otherwise, even after such a big victory, NDA leaders would not need to make baseless statements against him.”
The RJD spokesperson said actually, everything is not going well within the NDA and its allies. That is why, along with putting pressure on each other, BJP and JD(U) leaders are making false claims about being contacted by legislators of other parties just to put pressure on their own party legislators.
