Gaya: District magistrate (DM) and Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) chairman Shashank Shubhankar on Monday released the annual calendar of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara.
On the occasion, the DM said, “Numerous development projects have been undertaken to ensure that domestic and foreign devotees, as well as tourists visiting the temple, face no difficulties. In recent years, following the instructions of CM Nitish Kumar, a new BTMC building has been constructed. The Mahavihara premises and the BTMC office have been equipped with solar power systems to promote renewable energy. Ramps within the temple complex have also been expanded to allow elderly visitors to navigate the temple in wheelchairs.”
Highlighting the calendar’s features, the DM said it includes 12 pages offering a snapshot of 2026 events, a statue of Lord Buddha in the sanctum sanctorum, an aerial view of the Mahavihara with its golden umbrella by day and its LED-lit beauty at night, lush greenery and the Niranjana river, along with foreign devotees in white robes taking Shramana initiation under the Bodhi tree.
Mahavihara chief monk Bhikkhu Chalinda, BTMC member secretary Mahashweta Maharathi, and members Arvind Singh and Kiran Lama were also present on the occasion.
