Driver shot dead over divorce dispute with his wife in Khagaria
Patna: A 30-year-old diver was shot dead over a dispute related to divorce with his wife at Karna village under Parbatta police station in Khagaria district early Sunday morning. The incident occurred while he was sleeping alone in his house. The culprits allegedly shot him through the window of the room and fled the spot. However, his family members alleged that the man was killed by his in-laws over the dispute.
Parbatta SHO, Arvind Kumar, said, “The deceased was identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Karpuri Singh, of Karna. Two live cartridges were recovered from the spot. At the time of the incident, Sunil was alone in the house, while his wife was at her maternal home in Balha village in Khagaria. The neighbours came to know about his murder when a person came to wake him up. He was shot twice in the head. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem at the Sadar hospital.”
The SHO further said that the forensic team collected blood samples and other evidence from the crime scene. The technical experts are examining the cellphone of the deceased and his call detail records (CDR) for further information, he added.

According to police sources, Sunil allegedly had some differences with his wife and in-laws over a divorce case filed in the local court. The deceased's elder brother, Anil Singh, revealed, “Sunil and his wife, Nisha Kumari, were undergoing divorce proceedings for the past two years. About six years ago, Sunil married Nisha. The couple had no child, leading to bitterness in their relations and mutual differences.”
Anil also mentioned that Sunil often had meals at the home of his sister-in-law, Sulekha Devi, who lived nearby. He returned home after dinner from Sulekha’s house before going to sleep. “His family has not filed a complaint yet. We are waiting for the formal application for further action,” the SHO added.
