Patna: District magistrate (DM) Thiyagarajan S M, following state govt directives, has announced that degree-level classes will begin from July 1 in seven Patna blocks currently without higher education facilities. The move, under the “Advanced Education–Bright Future” programme, will cover Athmalgola, Belchi, Daniyawan, Ghoswari, Khusrupur, Maner and Sampatchak.
The DM on Wednesday reviewed preparations with education officials, SDOs and engineers to finalise arrangements for the new colleges. The institutions will initially operate from temporary premises, with officials directed to ensure basic infrastructure such as furniture, computers, internet connectivity, power supply and sanitation. SDOs have been asked to personally inspect the sites to ensure all facilities meet required standards.
“Under the fourth resolution of the state govt’s ‘Saat Nischay-3’ programme, continuous efforts are being made to provide quality higher education facilities,” the DM said.
For long-term functioning, the administration has started a time-bound process to identify land for permanent campuses. As per norms, at least five acres will be required in rural areas and 2.5 acres in urban locations. The additional collector has been asked to finalise suitable land by June 30, while the deputy development commissioner will monitor progress of the initiative.
