Couple dies in house fire in Gaya

Gaya: A husband and wife were charred to death in a fire at their residence in village Bitho village under Chakand police station late on Tuesday evening. The victim has been identified as Pramod Sao and his wife Madhu Devi. Pramod Sao, who earned his livelihood by manufacturing disposable leaf plates, was reportedly working in a room filled with the bundle of plates and dry leaves at the time of the incident. Police said that the bundle of prepared plate kept in the room caught fire due to power short circuit.Their three children, however, escaped unhurt as they were in another room of the house.Chakand station house officer Shivam Kumar conducted inspection and sent the bodies to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.The SHO said, “Block development officer also visited the spot and took stock of the situation. The deceased couple had three children including two sons and a daughter. One of them is an adult and will be receiving compensation as per provision from the administration”.
