Coach attendant abducted from train in Patna district

In a brazen act, criminals abducted a coach attendant from the Hatia-Patna Express near Barh station. The miscreants halted the train by pulling the emergency chain and forcibly dragged Rakesh Kumar from an AC coach. Authorities have launched a joint search operation, reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses, but the attendant remains missing as of Friday evening.

Patna: A coach attendant of the Hatia-Patna Express (18622) was abducted in broad daylight on Friday when unidentified criminals pulled the emergency chain and dragged him off the train near Barh station under Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR).According to Bakhtiyarpur RPF inspector Jawahar Lall, the incident occurred around 11.30am while the train was heading to Patna. “Three to four miscreants pulled the emergency alarm chain, bringing the train to a sudden halt near Barh. Taking advantage of the disruption, the criminals entered the AC 3-tier coach B5 and forcibly dragged attendant Rakesh Kumar out of the train. The attack was swift and well-coordinated, leaving little time for intervention,” he said.Police said that soon after receiving information, local police and the Government Railway Police (GRP) launched a joint search operation. “As of late Friday evening, no trace of the missing coach attendant had been found,” the inspector added.The investigation is under way, with search teams examining CCTV footage from nearby stations and questioning passengers and railway staff. “The police search team is in touch with the family members of the abducted coach attendant, who belonged to Chittaranjan in West Bengal,” Lall said.
