CM, others recall Vajpayee’s ideals, nation-building legacy
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar and senior BJP leaders on Thursday paid tributes to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 101st birth anniversary.
The state-level function was organised at Patliputra Park in Pataliputra Colony here. Nitish, along with deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, rural works minister Ashok Choudhary and BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi, offered floral tributes at the statue of the former PM.
Speaking on the occasion, Saraogi said, “The contributions of Bharat Ratna Vajpayee will always be remembered. His life is a symbol of patriotism, foresight and dedication to the people. His works and thoughts gave the country direction to become a strong and self-reliant nation. The foundation he laid is what the country is progressing on today. Whether it be nuclear power, development of language and culture, or the country’s political stability, he remained an example in every field.”
Bihar State Religious Trust Council chairperson and former MLC Ranbir Nandan said Vajpayee’s birth anniversary was observed across the state as ‘Prakharta Diwas’. “On this occasion, 1,100 Hanuman Chalisa recitations and Bijak recitations were held at several Hindu temples and monasteries across the state. Blankets were also distributed among the poor residents at many temples,” he said.
A grand exhibition depicting Vajpayee’s life and contributions was organised at the BJP state office in Patna. The exhibition was inaugurated by Saraogi along with the two deputy chief ministers.
A large number of BJP leaders, party workers and members of the public visited the exhibition to learn more about the former PM’s life and ideals.
Addressing BJP MLAs and party workers, Vijay Kumar Sinha said, “Politics is often described as a ‘kajal is kothri’. Anyone who enters it is bound to be stained. To emerge untainted from such a chamber is a rare achievement. Bharat Ratna Atal ji stands among the foremost who managed to do so impressively.”
