Bihar Election Results Highlights: NDA secures 30 seats in Bihar, INDIA bloc settles for 9

Bihar Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Live: In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged victorious, securing 30 out of the 40 seats. The INDIA bloc managed to win nine seats, while independent candidate Pappu Yadav clinched the Purnia Lok Sabha constituency.

Within the NDA, JDU and the BJP won 12 seats each, while the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) secured five seats, and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) won one seat. In the INDIA bloc, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won four seats, the Congress three seats, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) two seats.

Compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA's tally in Bihar decreased by nine seats. The JD(U) lost four seats in Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, and Jahanabad, while the BJP faced defeat in Patliputra, Arrah, Buxar, Aurangabad, and Sasaram. However, the LJP (R) managed to win all five seats it contested.

The BJP is responsible for "Bihar's backwardness and showing no interest in transforming its fate," according to poll expert Prashant Kishor, who has predicted that the BJP-led NDA will easily win the current Lok Sabha elections. Kishor criticised the BJP for allegedly "handing" JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar Bihar without considering the state of the state.

“The BJP which formed governments in other states by breaking different parties didn’t take the responsibility to transform the fate of Bihar despite emerging as a bigger party than JD(U) after the 2020 state assembly elections. It simply handed over the throne to Nitish who had only 42 MLAs,” Kishor said.
