PATNA: Bihar deputy chief ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav’s security has been stepped up by the government, officials said on Saturday.
Both leaders will now receive Z-category security cover, as per a notification issued by the state home department, according to news agency PTI.
The decision followed a review of their existing security arrangements, an official said.
Z-category security includes deployment of a dedicated team of trained personnel armed with advanced weapons.
Former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, currently a Rajya Sabha member, was recently granted Z-plus security cover by the state government.
“Z-plus is the highest level of security provided by the government,” the official said.
Bihar saw the formation of its first BJP-led government on April 15, with Samrat Choudhary taking oath as chief minister.
