Bihar: BPSSC, CSBC aspirants clash with police in Dak Bunglow Chauraha over job vacancy demand
NEW DELHI: Tensions flared on Monday at Dak Bunglow Chauraha as police clashed with aspirants staging a protest demanding the Bihar government announce vacancies for Police inspectors and constables.
Students and job seekers marched through the streets of Patna, highlighting the lack of recruitment for police constables and other government positions over the past two years. They urged the authorities to release a notification for new vacancies ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, expected in October-November, although official dates have not yet been announced.
Protesters also demanded that the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) and the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) release the answer key for their examinations. A delegation of students reportedly met officials in the administration to present their demands.
A protester Khusbu Pathak, standing on top of barricades said, "students have raised their voices against injustice multiple times, but the administration is not doing anything. So today we had to do this protest. Our protest is totally peacefully we fold our hands and beg the government to fulfil our demands."
"Answer key's carbon copy, and question booklet has to be given by the BPSSC and CSBC. Bihar Inspector's notification has to be given before the elections. We are students marching peacefully," she told ANI.
Another protester, Nitish Kumar, highlighted that for 2 years no new vacancies in police constable jobs have been announced, making it difficult for him to stay in Patna and study.
"We are trying to get in but the administration is not letting us in. We are trying to go in constitutionally. We are not the sons of MP, MLAs, we are sons of poor farmers that is why we prepare for Bihar police exam and we are here to protest. For two years there has been no vacancy. We are facing lot of difficulties while staying in Patna", Nitish Kumar told ANI.
Protester Aman Kumar Yadav, who climbed atop barricades during the demonstration, stated that the group intends to meet only the Chief Minister or the Chief Secretary to press their demands.
The student-led campaign, called 'Mukhyamantri Awas Gherao', is demanding that the Bihar government issue notifications for pending job vacancies before the upcoming elections.
The Bihar Police Constable exam, conducted by the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC), took place in multiple phases from July 15 to August 3. Separately, on May 29, the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) had released the official notification for the recruitment of Enforcement Sub Inspectors in the Transport Department, aiming to fill 33 positions this year.
