Administration pushes modernisation of classrooms in government schools

Patna: Patna DM Thiyagarajan S M conducted a district-level review of the education department on Wednesday, confirming that the PM Poshan Scheme now covers 3,017 schools. Inclusive education training, aimed at promoting the schooling of children with disabilities, raising awareness about disability rights, addressing specific needs, and boosting the self-confidence of children, has been completed for 3,135 teachers and 1,973 parents. The review meeting, held at the Patna Collectorate, focused on the progress of the Advanced Education-Bright Future initiative under the Seven Resolves-3 programme.

The administration directed officials to establish communication channels with students, parents, and teachers to collect feedback on school operations. The DM instructed the education department to implement modern techniques in classrooms and ensure that libraries and laboratories remain functional. Officials were also required to conduct regular inspections to monitor the availability of clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and sports equipment across all district schools.


Regarding the PM Poshan Scheme, the DM emphasised adherence to specific standards for protein and calorie distribution in mid-day meals. The district education officer reported that residential hostels at T K Ghosh Academy and Patna High School are fully operational for underprivileged students. The DM ordered a gap analysis for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose residential hostels to identify resource shortages.

The review also covered the status of the Right to Education Act, civil works, and the distribution of scholarships, uniforms, and bicycles. Officials were instructed to ensure the functionality of youth, eco, science, and maths clubs to facilitate scientific activities. The administration added that all department personnel must maintain punctuality and follow state govt guidelines for the implementation of educational schemes.
