PATNA: Six armed criminals looted 5kg gold worth around Rs 2 crore and Rs 2 lakh in cash from a private gold loan finance company near Hatiya Mor under Barbigha police station area in She- ikhpura district on Monday. A special investigation te- am (SIT) has been formed to nab the criminals
The criminals with their faces covered entered the company office around 1.10pm in the name of enquiring about the process to get loan by mortgaging gold. Suddenly, they whipped out pistols and held the three employees hostage at gunpoint. The manager, Krishna Murari, was on leave. The criminals looted around 5kg gold jewellery kept in the office locker and Rs 2 lakh in cash from the cash counter. They vandalised the property of the company, including the CCTV cameras. They also took away the hard disk of the CCTV camera and fled waving the firearms. However, the CCTV footage was captured on cloud storage at the headquarters of the company.
Sheikhpura SP Kartikeya Sharma, SDPO Arvind Kumar Sinha, Barbigha SHO Sunil Dutt, along with a large number of police force, forensic and technical teams reached the spot and started investigations.
The SDPO said two of the miscreants entered earlier pretending to be customers. "Later, the other four criminals barged into the office. The face of one of the criminals was exposed as his mask fell down during the crime. His photograph will be circulated on news channels and in newspapers for identification. A reward of Rs 50,000 has been announced to give any information about the culprits. The police will solve the case soon," he said.
