AURANGABAD: The district police on Tuesday night arrested five liquor smugglers including a woman from separate localities under

and

Nabinagar

police stations.

Altogether, 405 pouches of country-made liquor and six bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) have been seized from the possession of arrested persons.

According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, separate teams of Rafiganj and Nabinagar police stations raided the suspected hideouts of illicit liquor smugglers and recovered six bottles of IMFL. Rafiganj police arrested three persons including a woman for smuggling liquor. SHO SK

said the arrested woman Urmila Choudhary, Sanjay Thakur, and Brahmdeo Prasad were involved in liquor smuggling right from day total prohibition was implemented in the state. SHO Sinha said Urmila used to hide liquor inside her house and sell it in connivance of local smugglers.

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested from Mali locality by Nabinagar police station.

said 405 pouches of country-made liquor were seized from the possession of arrested persons. Two arrested persons--Deepak Kumar and Mantu Choudhary--have been sent to jail.

Police sources said apart from this, six persons were arrested by Khaira police in a drunken state. SP

said as Diwali is round the corner, all check posts as well as police stations have been issued special instruction to foil any attempt of liquor smuggling.
