4 people from Haryana die in Madhubani SUV-truck collision
Madhubani: Four people from Haryana died and three others sustained serious injuries after their SUV jumped the divider and crashed head-on with a truck on NH-27 near Parsa Chowk under Phulparas police station area of Madhubani district early Thursday. The SUV, carrying seven passengers from Kurukshetra in Haryana, veered into the wrong lane between Khopa and Parsa and collided with the truck, police said.
According to the police, the impact of the collision was so severe that one occupant died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries on the way to Jhanjharpur sub-divisional hospital. The deceased were identified as Sanjeev, Vikas, and Ankush, all residents of Kurukshetra district. The identity of the fourth victim is yet to be confirmed. The truck driver and his helper fled the spot after the crash and are absconding.
Three passengers suffered serious injuries and were initially taken to Jhanjharpur sub-divisional hospital before being referred to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) due to their critical condition. They have been identified as 27-year-old Ritik, 29-year-old Razia, and 26-year-old Kapis, all from Kurukshetra district.
Police said the group was likely travelling for leisure or tourism, possibly towards Northeast India or Nepal, though the exact destination remains unclear.
The SUV belonged to a resident of Kurukshetra, who had lent it to Sanjeev. Sanjeev’s brother-in-law, Vikram Kumar of Jhansa in Kurukshetra, told police he had not spoken to Sanjeev for three days prior to the accident and was informed by police about the incident on Thursday morning. The vehicle owner said Sanjeev had borrowed the car but had not shared his travel plans.
“Bodies of the deceased have been sent to Sadar hospital in Madhubani for post-mortem, and police are awaiting the arrival of their relatives,” said Phulparas SHO Vikram Acharya.
