Road leading to school, condos littered with craters, flood-prone

Noida: Residents of Sector 2 and nearby areas in Greater Noida West have raised concerns over the poor condition of a road linking a private school with high-rise housing societies, a route used regularly by schoolchildren. They said the stretch has become a safety hazard because of potholes, a broken surface and frequent waterlogging after rain. On April 8, a school bus got stuck in one of the potholes.“The incident is a clear indication of negligence on the part of the authorities,” said Rashmi Pandey, president of GB Nagar Vikas Samiti, a local social body. “It’s unacceptable that our children’s safety is compromised while the administration appears to be indifferent to the challenges faced by ordinary citizens.”According to Himanshu Rajput, vice president of the Samiti, the road is plagued by persistent issues such as large potholes, a broken surface, and waterlogging. “Hence, it creates a grave threat to the safety of commuters, particularly school-going children,” said Rajput.Residents of the sector, including those from Samridhi Grand Avenue society, have also expressed growing frustration and concern about the state of the road, which has seen heavy construction vehicles parked improperly, exacerbating traffic disruptions and heightening the risk of accidents. “We demand immediate action from the Greater Noida Authority to address these issues,” said Sanjay Singh, a resident of the area.In a formal letter addressed to the GNIDA CEO, Pandey outlined specific demands which included immediate repairs of the road, filling of potholes, effective management of waterlogging, and regulation of heavy vehicle parking to ensure safety for residents, particularly children.A response from GNIDA is awaited on the matter.
