Visitors to learn more on sorting trash at civic show

Navi Mumbai: Residents keen on learningmore about segregating waste as well composting and its benefits should head for the forthcoming

“NMMC will soon be conducting the annual exhibition of flowers, vegetable and fruits. The event will also promote environmentally benefitting activities. Since the show sees a large turnout every year, it has been decided to educate public about the benefits of

waste segregation

. Citizens can also learn about the various ways to prepare compost from wet waste,” said the deputy municipal commissioner, solid waste management, Tushar Pawar.

Exhibition is scheduled to be held towards the end of March. Citizens will get live demonstration on the ways to segregate waste. , An information counter will also be set up to explain how to utilise the compost. “Most residents are aware of segregating waste into wet and dry, but there is more to it. For instance, electronic waste shouldn't be mixed with dry waste. We intend to provide such information at the exhibition,” said an official from the solid waste department.
