Sena UBT’s Prathmesh Gite set to be leader of oppn in NMC
Nashik: Prathmesh Gite of the Shiv Sena (UBT) is set to take over as the new leader of the opposition in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). The official recommendation for his appointment was submitted to mayor Himgauri Aher by UBT group leader Keshav Porje. A formal declaration confirming Gite's new role is expected during the general body meeting this Friday."The decision to nominate Gite was unanimous," Porje said. As the Nashik city chief for Shiv Sena (UBT) and a two-time corporator, Gite brings a solid track record to the position. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to solidify the party's influence and oversight within the municipal administration."We already handed over the letter to Aher. The formal announcement will be made in the general body meeting," Porje said, emphasising the party's confidence in Gite's leadership experience and his organisational role in the city. The shift in the Opposition landscape followed the surprising political adjustment between the BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Despite being the second-largest party in the NMC, Shinde's Sena joined hands with the BJP, opting to participate in the ruling alliance. This cleared the path for Sena (UBT) to claim the principal opposition position.
