Nagpur: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), the 51-year-old mining public sector undertaking (PSU) based at Nagpur, unveiled its first-ever independent logo as a mark of its corporate identity on Monday. WCL, a mini-ratna enterprise, has been playing a key role in meeting the country's energy requirements through coal production across states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.Talking about the new logo, WCL chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) Hemant Pande said the artistic representation of the letters W and C represent the company's commitment to look beyond traditional business and explore new opportunities. The letter C, which is in red colour, depicts energy and its subtle resemblance to hockey stick also reflects national pride, teamwork and dynamism, said the CMD. The letter L stands for stability and continuous progress, he added.Pande said the new corporate identity would further strengthen WCL's branding and foster a sense of pride among employees. The logo has been designed by company's multimedia communication team. Till now, WCL used logo of Coal India Limited — its parent company. Like other subsidiaries, even WCL would have its own logo, an official said. TNN
