NAGPUR: In a major security scare, rain water entered operation theatres, ICU and general wards at the surgical complex of state run Indira Gandhi govt medical college and hospital (iggmch) in the wee hours of Thursday. Videos of the incident shot by staff went viral on social media in the morning. They said even doctors had to walk very carefully, and one can imagine how poor patients and relatives managed the situation. "Think about what would have happened to the staff and the countless patients present inside if there had been a short circuit in the electrical fittings and ICU equipment during this time, " a staffer said.Nagpur received 32.4mm rainfall with sudden spell of heavy rain on the night of Wednesday. The intense rains left many places water logged .The iggmch is currently under major revamp and renovation with several construction works ongoing. Additional floors are planned above surgical complex and officials said recently some work started which probably left the roof leaking.Iggmch top officials didn't respond to TOI calls.
