Nagpur: A vibrant showcase of youthful energy marked the grand finale of ‘Shikshanotsav 2025–26', organised by the education department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) at the Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium.
Mayor Neeta Thakre was the chief guest on the occasion. Deputy mayor Leela Hathibed, leader of opposition Sanjay Mahakalkar, corporators Vaishali Udapurkar and Sarika Nandurkar, additional commissioner Vaishnavi B, deputy commissioner Meghna Wasankar, education officer Sadhana Sayam, and other senior officials were present.

Thakre stressed the growing need to provide quality, free education to students. She said the civic body is focusing not only on increasing enrolment in municipal schools but also on enhancing the quality of education and ensuring the overall intellectual development of students.
"Parents from economically weaker sections entrust us with their children's future. It is our responsibility to maintain and elevate the prestige of municipal schools," she said.
Cultural highlights included group songs and dance performances by Lal Bahadur School, Nari Upper Primary School, Pardi Upper Primary School, and PM Shri Sanjay Nagar School.
Shikshanotsav, held from Nov 28 to Dec 6, featured a wide range of academic, cultural, and sports events. In the primary category, Durganagar Primary School secured first place, while Vivekanand Primary School emerged runner-up. In the upper primary category, Pardi Upper Primary School bagged the top honour, and Durganagar Marathi Upper Primary School was runner-up. All winning schools were felicitated during the ceremony.
Students who secured first rank in the Class 10 and 12 exams (stream-wise and medium-wise) in March 2025 were awarded cheques of Rs 25,000 along with gold coins. Second- and third-rank holders received Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
Winners of sports competitions (age group 14–18) were presented with trophies, while cultural competition winners were honoured with mementoes.
