Identify problem tiger of Sindewahi: Sudhir Mungantiwar

The orders came in wake of Sunday’s human kill by a tiger near Ladbori village in Sindewahi range.
Tiger attacks have risen in Sindewahi range in recent months. Sources said that as many as seven persons have been killed in tiger attacks in Sindewahi range during the last eight months. Five of them were killed this year.
The first victim this year was Geena Pendam of Murmadi village, who was killed on border of FDCM Sindewahi and Sindewahi territorial range on January 30. The tiger killed Govinda Bhendare of Kinhi village in Sindewahi range on March 13.
One more person was killed in Murpar
Mungatiwar said that the people in Sindewahi are reeling under tiger terror and hence, the forest department should launch immediate remedial measures.

Sheke said that people in the problem area have been warned against venturing into the forest. “Forest guards are patrolling the area and soon after the problem tiger is identified, other preventive measures will be taken,” he added.

Mahadev Gedam from Murmadi village was killed on June 3. On June 15, the tiger mauled a woman in Kinhi village and on June 17, the tiger killed Anubai Chaukhe from Ladbori village.CCF,

, Vijay Shelke said that camera traps were laid at the place of kill after every incident and they have pictures of tigers involved in each kill. “We have initiated the process of identification of the problem tiger. If the same tiger is found to be involved in multiple human kills, then remedial measures as per the guidelines of NTCA will be initiated,” he said.Sheke said that people in the problem area have been warned against venturing into the forest. “Forest guards are patrolling the area and soon after the problem tiger is identified, other preventive measures will be taken,” he added.
