Ex-nurse duped of 90L in ‘digital arrest’ fraud

Nagpur: A 72-year-old retired nurse from Jaripatka lost 90 lakh after a cyber criminal claiming to be a law enforcement agency officer kept her under ‘digital arrest' for several weeks. A case has been registered at the Cyber police station. As per police, the woman received a call in November last year from the fraudster who threatened her with arrest in a money laundering case. The accused also made video calls about fake police and court proceedings, forcing her to transfer 90 lakh to various accounts between November 26 and December 9, said police. TNN
