Nagpur: A late-night jaunt with friends ended on a bloody note early Monday after a 20-year-old engineering student collapsed in a pool of blood in one of Nagpur's busiest and most upscale localities — Dharampeth. He was allegedly stabbed by two minors over a seemingly trivial, street altercation.Hudkeshwar resident Tushar Chute, 20, had reportedly sneaked out of his home after midnight to roam the city with friends. Hours later, he lay bleeding alone on the road after being attacked near Coffee House Square with his two friends fleeing the crime scene.Police said, Tushar was moving around the Dharampeth area with two friends around 2.30am, when they got into a verbal argument with two minors riding a moped near Laxmibhuvan Square. This petty roadside confrontation soon spiralled into deadly violence.Talking to TOI, PSI Nandkishor Padkonde said the two accused minors allegedly chased Tushar and his friends towards Coffee House Square before intercepting them in front of a popular cafe. Witnesses and police sources said Tushar tried to run down the street in a desperate effort to save himself, despite bleeding from the stab wound. However, he collapsed a short distance away due to excessive blood loss.He was rushed to Mayo Hospital by bystanders, where doctors declared him dead. Sources said Tushar's two friends fled the scene during the violent assault, leaving him alone during the confrontation. The duo was later traced and questioned by police as part of the investigation. The accused minors, both residents of Jaripatka, reportedly have no prior criminal record. Officers scanned CCTV footage from multiple locations in Dharampeth and used surveillance to identify and trace the accused within hours. Both minors were detained and sent to a juvenile home, pending legal proceedings. The brutal killing in one of Nagpur's elite and crowded late-night hangout zones has triggered widespread fear among residents and parents alike.
