170 delegates gain practical training on life-saving skills

Nagpur: The 13th Annual Conference of Critical Care Medicine — Mahacriticon 2025 — began with a series of intensive pre-conference workshops focused on advanced mechanical ventilation, bedside ultrasound (POCUS), and hemodynamic monitoring. The hands-on training sessions, designed to enhance the life-saving skills of critical care professionals, drew enthusiastic participation from more than 170 delegates.Around 70 delegates attended the advanced mechanical ventilation workshop, 60 took part in the ultrasound in ICU (POCUS) session, and 45 joined the hemodynamic monitoring training. The participants received hands-on exposure using advanced equipment and live demonstrations on human volunteers to simulate real-world critical care scenarios.The sessions focused on bedside ultrasound techniques for critically ill patients, mastering artificial ventilation support for those with respiratory distress, and closely monitoring vital parameters such as blood pressure and heart function. Experts emphasised the importance of early recognition of critical illness, aggressive stabilisation, and timely diagnosis to reduce mortality rates.National critical care experts including Dr Kapil Zirpe, Dr Sameer Jog, Dr Sachin Gupta, Dr Rahul Pandit, and Dr Bharat Jagiasi designed and conducted these workshops. From Nagpur, dedicated faculty members Dr Anant Rajput, Dr Vinay Kulkarni, Dr Swapna Khanzode, Dr Kamal Bhutada, Dr Paras Zunke, Dr Ramesh Hasani, and Dr Shailesh Chouksey contributed to the success of the training sessions.The main conference will be inaugurated on Saturday at 11 am at Hotel Centre Point, by Dr PP Joshi, executive director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur, with Dr Vinky Rughwani, administrator of the Maharashtra Medical Council, as guest of honour.Eminent national and international faculty including Dr Deepak Govil, Dr Srinivas Samavedam, Dr Pradeep Rangappa, Dr Rajeev Soman, Dr Ashish Hegde, Dr Shiela Maitra, and Dr Ranvir Singh Tyagi will headline the event. Organising chairman Dr Deepak Jeswani, secretary Dr Sudhir Chafle, ISCCM chairman Dr Ashish Ganjre, secretary Dr Utkarsh Shah, and treasurer Dr Kaustubh Upadhye are leading the event, which will host over 600 delegates.
