BHOPAL: Days after TOI reported how students at a govt school in MP's Sheopur district were served midday meals on waste paper, instead of plates, another shocking incident came to light on Monday. In the latest, a frog was found in the midday meal served to students at Government Primary School, Gokulpur, in the Gwalior district.
According to school staff, the frog was discovered when the meal bucket was opened just before serving. Teachers immediately recorded a video and informed senior officials.
Several children, who had gathered for lunch, refused to eat. Gwalior collector Ruchika Chauhan told TOI that the matter was being inquired into. School staff and students said they have repeatedly complained about the poor quality of mid-day meals, alleging foul smell, insects and contaminated food on earlier occasions as well. However, no action was taken by the authorities, they claimed.
Speaking to media persons, District Panchayat CEO Sojan Singh Rawat said he has a serious note of the complaint and a probe was already underway to identify lapses and fix accountability.
