Students must try to become effective problem solvers: Associate VP, Infy Mysuru
Mysuru: Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, hosted Open Day 2026 on Sunday, providing aspiring engineering students and parents an opportunity to explore academic excellence, innovation and career opportunities in engineering education.The programme was attended by VVCE president Gundappa Gowda, secretary P Vishwanath, Sundar KS, associate vice-president, Infosys Mysuru, Ravindra V, alumnus of VVCE and senior design engineer, Kyrosemi Bangalore, and Uday Shankar, CET expert and principal of Maharaja Govt PU College Mysuru, Dr B Sadashive Gowda, principal of VVCE, Dr Shobha Shankar, vice- principal, VVCE, and Dr GV Naveen Prakash, dean, academic affairs–first year.Speaking on the occasion, Sundar stressed the importance of engineering in a technology-driven world and encouraged students to become effective problem solvers and business transformation partners. He emphasised that technology must be integrated with engineering and business understanding.Highlighting the impact of AI, he advised students to continuously upskill themselves to stay relevant in the evolving industry. He also said AI is transforming industries across the world, creating both challenges and opportunities for engineering profession. Addressing this issue, he emphasised that today's engineers must develop the mindset to convert every challenge into an opportunity. "Engineers can no longer remain mere order takers or passive executors; instead, they must evolve into business transformation partners capable of analysing problems critically, innovating solutions and contributing meaningfully to society and industry," Sundar said.Ravindra spoke about the opportunities in electronics and communication engineering (E&C), citing its strong industrial connect and flexibility in interdisciplinary projects. Uday Shankar guided students and parents on the CET counselling process and informed decision-making during admissions.
