Revenue officials trained on amendments to Karnataka Land Revenue Act in Hassan
Hassan: Emphasising that the revenue department works most closely with the people on behalf of govt, district nodal secretary and principal secretary of the youth empowerment and sports department, Naveen Raj Singh, said revenue officials must stay updated with changing rules to deliver efficient public services. He was speaking at the inauguration of a workshop held at Hassanamba Kalakshetra for revenue officers and staff of the district on the recent amendments to the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1966.Naveen Raj Singh noted that rules governing the revenue department evolve from time to time, and such workshops help officials gain clarity on new regulations and improve service delivery. He cautioned that failure to understand amended laws could lead to mistakes, especially as revenue records are increasingly being digitised.Describing the revenue department as the "mother department," he said it functions as the landowner on behalf of the govt. He added that govt revenue comprises not only land revenue but also income from GST, transport and other departments.Deputy commissioner KS Latha Kumari said several amendments have been introduced to the land revenue rules and urged all revenue officers and staff to be prepared to adapt to changes in their responsibilities by thoroughly understanding the amendment bills. She also informed that voter list revision is currently under way in the district and called upon all taluk tahsildars and staff to carry out the task with greater attention.Zilla panchayat chief executive officer BR Poornima, additional deputy commissioner Jagadish Gangannavar, special land acquisition officer Manjunath, and all tahsildars of the district were present.
