NEW DELHI: A district court in Mysuru has sentenced Manikanta Swamy to death following his conviction for the brutal killings of his pregnant wife, mother, and two young sons.
The verdict was delivered on Tuesday concerning the crime committed on April 28, 2021, in Chamegowdana Hundi village, located in the Sargur Taluk of Mysuru district.
Manikanta Swamy, aged 35, perpetrated the murders while under the influence of alcohol, targeting his wife Ganga, who was nine months pregnant, his 65-year-old mother Kempamma, and his sons, Samrat, aged two, and Rohith, aged four.
The attack was carried out using a rod.
Police reports highlighted Swamy’s persistent doubts regarding his wife's loyalty, despite efforts by his family to dispel his suspicions.
After committing the murders, Swamy went into hiding but was subsequently apprehended by the authorities following an extensive manhunt.
