Additional DC highlights Shivaji’s legacy at jayanti celebrations

Mandya: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born at a time when Indian art, literature, and culture faced serious threats from repeated foreign invasions, said additional DC BC Shivananda Murthy.He spoke after inaugurating the Shivaji Jayanti celebrations at Nalvadi Shri Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kalamandira Library Hall. The programme was organised by the District Administration in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture.
Addressing the gathering, Murthy noted that Shivaji, born in 1630 in Maharashtra, received systematic training in administration and warfare under Dadaji Kondadev. "From a young age, he was deeply influenced by his mother Jijabai, who nurtured in him the ideals of courage, justice, and dharma. These values later shaped him into a visionary and disciplined leader. Despite being the son of a regional chieftain, Shivaji rose to establish a strong, independent Maratha kingdom. He is remembered for his administrative acumen, progressive policies, and innovative guerrilla warfare tactics," he said, and added that the younger generation should imbibe Shivaji's qualities.Members of the Maratha community were present.
