MUMBAI: A woman hailing from Ugandawas arrested by Airport customs here for carrying 3.9 kgs of heroin worth Rs3.96 crore in the international market.
Hawa Nantongo, a Ugandian national,was detained with narcotics before she was trying to board the flight to Kenyaat Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Nov 9, Commissioner of Customs(Airport) Deepak Shetty said in a release here on Wednesday.
Nantongo hadconcealed the contraband in spread-out polythene bags wrapped with adhesivetapes in the cavities of three insulated hot pots in her checked-in baggage,Shetty said.
She was remanded to police custody after her arrest was madeunder the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and Narcotics Drugs Prevention Act(NDPS), 1985, the release added.
